How Many Days Do You Need to Learn to Kitesurf?

One of the most common questions we get at Zanzikite is: “How long does it take to learn to kitesurf?” The honest answer depends on the person, but here’s a realistic breakdown.

Day 1-2: Kite control on the beach. You’ll learn to fly a trainer kite, understand wind windows, and practice body drag in the water. This is the foundation of everything.

Day 3-4: Board work. Time to add the board! You’ll learn to body drag with the board, get your feet on it, and start making your first attempts to stand up.

Day 5-6: First rides. Most students get their first real upwind rides around day 5 or 6. Some people get there faster, some slower. It depends on coordination, fitness, and wind conditions.

Our recommendation: Book a minimum of 9 hours (our beginner package) spread over 3 days to give yourself the best chance of riding independently. If you have more time, 12–15 hours over a week is ideal.

The faster you progress, the more fun you’ll have! And Jambiani’s consistent winds make every session productive. Questions? Message us on WhatsApp and we’ll help you plan the right course.
